How Can Playing Online Poker Make You Put On Weight?

Monday, January 11th, 2010

People often associate Las Vegas with excess and over indulgence and we could certainly see their point when we heard about Joey Chestnut! Joey it would seem hit the Vegas headlines recently due to his partaking in the first ever Martorano’s Masters Meatball Eating Championship. Yes you didn’t read it wrong, it was definitely a meatball eating competition! The owner of the restaurant where the competition was held came up with the idea, but originally was undecided as to whether to choose cheese steak or meatballs. “We’re really known for our meatballs though. Gourmet magazine said we have the best meatballs in the world in 2007.”

Joey Chestnut’s brilliant effort even had him breaking the World Record for meatball eating when he ate 6.25lbs, which equates to 50 meatballs, all in a matter of ten minutes. The competition took place at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Vegas and was a Major League Eating-sanctioned competition. The prize was pretty good as the winning amount of cash was $1500. If you were thinking that the results were totally unexpected then you would be mistaken as Joey is quite an expert in the field of competitive eating. In the past he has won competitions for eating chicken, hotdogs and pizzas!

There was no stuffing meatballs in by hand, as the rule of this competition was eating by using utensils only! The six foot 218 lb Chestnut grabbed the title by just one ball as the second place was taken by Pat ‘deep dish’ Bertolli who consumed 49 of the meaty treats. There was a surprise 3rd place result as Sonya Thomas managed to eat 42 meatballs even though she weighs a tiny 105 pounds. Certainly a competitive eating champion in the making we think, or someone who was very hungry after her time on the poker tables!

Perhaps she could have a go at playing online poker at home. That way she could eat and play until her heart is content. Rakeback, Full Tilt Rakeback and Pokerstars Rakeback are all games she could sign up to. Mind you I bet if she ate and played at home her weight wouldn’t stay at just 105 pounds for long!

Can I Get Pokerstars Rakeback?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

As an affiliate, i’m constantly asked if it’s possible to get pokerstars rakeback, and quite simply, the answer is no. Pokerstars rakeback is absolutely impossible due to the way rakeback works. You see, if a poker affiliate sends a customer to a poker site, the poker site in turn gives a part of the earnings that they get from the customer back to the affiliate.

So to use FullTilt for example, when a poker affiliate sends a customer to Full Tilt Poker, Full Tilt give up to 35% of the referrals rake back to the affiliate. Full Tilt also permit the poker affiliate to return any amount up to 27% back to the player. This is what’s come to be known as rakeback, or sometimes, less commonly, poker cashback. The reason that Pokerstars rakeback is impossible is very simple.

Pokerstars don’t give poker affiliates a share of the profits that they earn from referrals like other poker sites do, so affiliates don’t actually get any regular income to give rakeback out of. Pokerstars only pay affiliates a one off commission fee for each customer sent. This isn’t actually a bad thing though in my opinion, as the less incentive people have to play at Pokerstars the better, due to Pokerstars having the most difficult opposition in poker at their tables.

After all, even though we all love playing poker, i’m sure everybody will agree that we prefer to win, so playing on a poker site with the most difficult opposition to win against really doesn’t make any sense at all.

Especially once you take into account that the poker sites and networks with the easiest opponents also support rakeback, so you actually have two ways to gain money. To be honest, from my point of view, although i dabble in other forms of online gambling from time to time, my favourite by far is poker, but if i were a poker player who had no choice but to play at Pokerstars with its mind numbingly tight opposition and lack of rakeback, i’d probably stop playing online poker altogether and learn how to win at online roulette.
