Roulette is one of the most well loved casino games in the world and is played by millions every day and is the subject of millions of dollars in wagers all over the world, but when did it all start and where did it originate from? The following article will look to outline the history and time line of the development of this popular casino game. The word ‘roulette’ is derived from the words ‘small wheel’ in French so it’s safe to assume that a Frenchman had something to do with the development of the game. Blaise Pascal is credited with the invention of a primitive roulette game in his quest for a perpetual motion machine in the 17th century. However, the roulette wheel itself is believed to be a combination of a number of Old English, French and Italian games that already existed.

The earliest description of the roulette wheel can be found in a French novel ‘La Roulette , Ou Le Jour’ and this is in 1796. However the earliest reference to the game can be found in 1758 in New France (now Quebec) which actually outlaws a gambling game called roulette.

The European form of roulette (1 green 0 rather than the 0 and 00 in the ‘American’ version) has been traced back to the German town of Homburg. It is still credited to two Frenchmen though, Francois and Louis Blanc. The single 0 was introduced to increase the odds in the favour of the gambler and therefore make it a better option than the 00 style of the game. There were even roulette wheels in America that had a 0 and 00 and an American eagle. And when the ball landed in one of these sections the house claimed all bets on the table!

When the Germans (one of the largest empires in Europe at the time) outlawed gambling in the 1860’s gambling and the roulette wheel moved to the south of France and took hold in Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo quickly became a place where the socially wealth and the rich of the time came to bet and is still synonymous with the casino today.

Meanwhile, at this time, roulette was travelling north through the USA beginning in New Orleans. It was here, because of cheating both by gamblers and operators, that roulette became a table top game and it was also here that the roulette wheel as we know it today became standardised.

Roulette is now played all over the world, from the back street gambling dens to the most glamorous casinos in Las Vegas, by the rich and wealthy to the average Joes looking to get lucky; its appeal is open to all . Its popularity is clear for all to see – maybe this is due to its easy structure, the potential for big wins or even the hypnotic nature of the spinning wheel. One thing is for sure roulette has made a massive impact in the world of gambling and it most certainly here to stay.

The Cancelation Method Of Gambling

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

This is a betting method that has been around for many years and used with varying degrees of success by generations of gamblers. It’s is also known as the cancelation method. It is a method that is applied to 1:1 bets, for example red or black in roulette. One man, Norman Leigh, even reckons to have broken a number of casinos in Nice during the 60’s with a reverse Labouchere system like this. If you would like to read about another online roulette system then have a look here roulette system

The system is relatively easy system to learn and apply. Firstly you need to write yourself a list of single digit numbers, they need not be sequential. For this article we will use the numbers 1, 3, 3, 2, 6, 4, 3, 6 . The sum amount you get when all the numbers are added together is the amount you are looking to win, here $28 – The key is not to want to win to much and pick a selection of small numbers. The player then stakes the sum of the first and the last digit on the list, for our list that would be $7. If only one number remains then this is the amount that is gambled. If the bet is won then both numbers are crossed off the list. If the bet is lost then the amount lost is added to the end of the list.

The theory behind this system works like this. The player crosses off 2 numbers every time he wins and adds only one every time he loses. Because of this you only need your colour to come in 33% of the time. The odds of winning on a red/black bet are just over 47% (not 50% because of the green 0) so at a quick glance it would seem like you are on to a good thing here. The largest problems you will come across will be either your bank roll and/or the table limits. For example, using our numbers above, if your result sequence was to go win, loss, loss, loss, loss then you would have won $14 with your first bet and then lost 6+9+12+15. So you would have won $14 but lost $42 and your next 50/50 bet will need to be a further $18 and seeing as you were only going to win $28 to start with the risk would be considered too high for some.

There are 2 keys to this system either don’t be too greedy, pick a lowselection of low numbers and work from there OR to find a roulette wheel online or off line that allows you to bet large amounts of money and make sure you have the bank roll to back this up.

In short there are a lot ofsystems to apply when gambling, none are completely effective, if they were we’d all be doing them and the casinos would have been out of businessa long time ago. However, good betting systems and structured wagers will, if nothing else, give a feeling of security to your bets. For further roulette systems to try have a look here online gambling guides.

A Realistic Roulette System

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

It is a standard opinion amongst those in the know that roulette cannot be beaten. It would be silly in the extreme to go after a unique betting[/spin [spin]method that are sometimes advertised online or spend a fortune on books and the like – the vast majority of these people are selling you a lie. However this does not mean that you shouldn’t try to use some sort of method. One tactic some people like to apply is to make small stakes but go after the big win. If you like the system below and are interested in others then have a look here roulette system

The way you can go about this is to try and ‘complete a number’. This means that the number is covered for all possibilities and the numbers that surround it are covered in your favour as well. For example maybe you would chosethe number 14. You place a chip on that number, you would also place a chip across 14 AND the numbers above, below and to the side – 11 and 14, 14 and 15, 14 and 17 and 13 and 14. You would also place chips on each corner of the 14, thus spanning 4 number squares – 10, 11, 13 and 14 – 11, 12, 14 and 15 – 14, 15 17 and 18 – 13, 14, 16 and 17. You will now have laid 9 chips on and around the number 14. If the number 14 comes in then you will pick up 135 chips – 1×35 for the bet on 14, 4×17 for the two number combinations and 4×8 for the 8 number combinations. You will also get your original 9 chips back as well. Also if you hit anywhere around 14 you will also pick up some lesser prizes.

You should always pick a number in the 2ndcolumn of the table so as to be able to work around it properly. If you pick a number on the outside columns then your profit will only be 123 units should it come in. This is still not too much of a problem as a win on an outside column is still a win but I like to think that if I am going to go after that elusive big win then I would like to get as much back as possible – of course the ball is just as likely to land on the middle column as it is to land on one of the outside columns or even on the zero.

It should be understoodthat this system – people that do this are heading for a fall. But when this system does come in you will win and win big. You should also always be aware that it is foolish to play roulette for profit or consider it as any sort of investment, the odds will always be against you. Roulette should be played purely for entertainment value and nothing else.
