Texas Holdem is a variation of poker where players combine any of the five community cards with a couple of hole cards. It is usually played with nine or ten players at a full table with a rotating blind system. A blind system is designed to generate money to put into the pot. In any basic poker game, players strategically wager using five actions that are available to them – check, bet, fold, call, and raise. The objective of any poker player is having the best five-card hand at the end of the game and consequently hitting the pot.

Although there is no exact information on where Texas holdem originated, it goes without saying that the game more than likely originated in Texas. The legend says that the earliest version of the game was played in Robstown, Texas in the early 1900s.

There are several variations of Texas holdem poker, including limit, no limit, and pot limit Texas holdem poker. Limit poker is also known as fixed limit because the betting limits are fixed. At any given time, you can only bet in the single governing limit set for that street. In no limit holdem, there is no maximum bet, while in a pot-limit game, no player can raise more than the size of the total pot.

A lot of different rules may be implemented in the game, but then again, it generally follows the same pattern of play.

Texas Holdem Limits uses standard Texas Holdem rules. The only difference it has from a No Limits game is that there are caps placed on your bets. This means that you can only raise the pot to a certain limit, making you hold on to your chips longer.

For example, in a limits game, the blinds are at $1 and $2. This means that the smaller forced bet is valued at a dollar and the larger forced bet is valued at two dollars. The maximum value that you can raise is $4. As the game progresses, the blinds and raise value can be increased but you can be assured that you do not have to let go of a large chunk of your chips early in the game.
