In poker starting hands are important to many pros. However when playing a more conservative style of play, starting hands are a little over rated. In fact I recommend that you focus more on what your opponent doesn’t have, as opposed to what your starting hand looks like. Either way I am going to review various starting hands in this article and how to play them so you gain 11.5 Poker Chips even before the flop comes.

Ok let’s talk about the easiest hands first, big pairs. Big pairs include aces, kings, queens and jacks. However jacks are more of a marginal pair. Now when you have aces or kings you better start throwing chips because these hands are worth risking it all pre-flop. There are some situations where kings can be folded pre-flop, but those odds are close to one and a million. Even if you do flip over your kings and see you are battling aces, you will win almost a fifth of the time. You should never get the thought that you are a bad player just because you got knocked out by sticking it all in pre-flop with kings.

Now with queens and jacks the same is not true. In fact because of the style of play that I usually employ, I will most times even call a raise instead of three betting the hand. With these hands, in most cases you are only ahead by a tiny margin. If you’re not ahead though, you’re behind by a mile. This is why it is smart to play these hands more cautiously then the average player. As well this will add another mask to your game, and will let everyone at the table know that you can have anything.

When you look down to middle pair pre-flop, please do not over value these hands. Pairs like tens, nines, eights and sevens are not premium hands, so please do not value them as they are. Do not get me wrong these are good hands to have, but this is not because of their pre-flop strength it is because of their value later on. I would recommend making a small two and a half to three times the big blind raise if you are the first one into the pot. Your evil plan with hands such as these should be to flop trips and then milk your opponents. Again, that plan does not include playing this hand without a set when your opponent is bringing the heat.

On to the smaller pairs, I suggest playing these pairs very similar to the way you are supposed to play middle pairs. Again with these pairs your overall plan should be to flop a set. On the other hand you should not be re-raising your opponents before the flop with hands like these. Some professionals will re-raise with these hands, but too often you will be in a coin flip situation for way too many chips. Again as a more conservative player, this is not your goal.

Ok, so we have gone over how to play pairs when you see them pre-flop. You should know not to under-value big pairs, but more importantly do not over-value middle and low pairs. All too often players in tournaments get knocked out or run into a large set back because they over-valued their hand. Don’t let that rookie mistake into your repertoire of poker knowledge. So now it is time to go get a Poker Chip Set and win some money!

As you may have noticed or seen countless times if you play poker is that no matter what you do, you will have a short stack at one point or another in your career. Maybe it is simply because you just cannot catch a decent hand. Anyways, an important tool in any professional’s arsenal is knowing how to play a short stack.

Most players will tell you that when you get a short stack, well then it is almost time to throw in the towel. However on the contrary to popular belief this is the time to play your best. Even though you are below average at this point you do have options!

A prime example of this is professional player Jack Strauss who came to win the WSOP Main Event after being down to just one single chip. This is where many believe the poker motto “Just a chip and a chair” came from. So like Jack, instead of giving up there are a few tips that you can use to take your game to the next level even when your 11.5 Gram Poker Chips have seemed to disappear.

Most importantly when you have a short stack is to start with a premium hand. This is simply not the time to be chasing suited connectors. You are looking for hands that are likely premium before the flop and remain strong after the flop as well.

The next thing is to go All In! One of the most powerful weapons you can use while you have little to no poker chips is to bet them all. This lets everyone at the table know you are serious about your hand. Now if everyone folds, great since this should be your main goal. However is someone does call, this is where your decent hand should be strong enough to withstand a shaky board.

Another important fact is to be the first person to act at the pot. It is a lot more intimidating if you go all in first, than if someone raises and then you go all in. In fact this also increases their chances of calling since they might believe you are just making a move.

Most of all you want to avoid the big stacks at the poker table. These are the players that are more likely to call because your small amount of Clay Poker Chips just will not do much damage to their mountain of chips. Instead you want to target other short stacks, and average sized stacks. Other short stacks are looking to find a good hand as well before they push so if they did not find one, which chances are they won’t they will instantly fold their cards. Average sized stacks as well have to be careful with their chips. The will think twice before calling your all in call, simply because they don’t want to lose themselves.

To make your game better, try to adjust your strategy to your chip stack. If you are just below average there is no reason to drastically change your style. On the other hand, if you only have two big blinds left, it is time to widen up your “premium hands” range. The last thing in a tournament that you want to do is ante yourself to death. When you become really low, just about any face card will do the trick.

So the next time you are on a short stack remember this advice. As well think about Jack Strauss, and who knows maybe you make a comeback.

Attention all poker players. It is time to ditch those tired beatup habits before they deliver your 11.5 gram poker chip across the table. I’m going to share with you today the top ten mistakes that make you stand out as a rookie at the poker table.

The number ten reason everyone at the table thinks you’re a rookie is because you bluff way too much. Many inexperienced players watch way too many movies and then think if the just keep bluffing, they will keep winning. They will see a pro like Gus Hansen bluff on the World Series of Poker with 8-2 off suit and somehow think they can do it too. The rookie will tend to miss the three hours of play that lead up to this bluff. The large flaw in this style of play is that early in the game everyone knows that you love to bluff. Then your style is just shot down over and over again.

Right next to that is the fact that many untrained rookies do not have the patience to play poker. If you play poker correctly, you’ll often find that you will be waiting around what seems like ages for a decent pair of cards. Pros will wait it out, while rookies will go ahead and play cards that they know they shouldn’t just for the sake of playing poker. If you are doing this then simply put all your clay poker chips in a package and just airmail straight across the table.

Next, the most advertised rookie mistake is playing limits they cannot afford. There is nothing in the game of poker that breaks your confidence faster than this. By doing this you will find yourself thinking about other things like a mortgage, and this my friend takes up space in your head that should be concentrating on playing poker. There is simply no way to continually go positive playing poker when you have to worry about how you will get to work if your card doesn’t hit the river. So my words of advice are “get out now”!

Another mistake that many don’t hear about that often is drinking while playing. If you are playing poker you need all your mental strength focused on your game. You’ll find that yourself making costly mistakes that you wouldn’t have made if you didn’t knock down a couple beers before playing. It is no coincidence that the casino offers you free drinks while you play, they know the effects and now so do you! I mean you do not see Tom “Derr” Dwan showing up to High Stakes Poker sipping on a margarita.

Ok now let’s talk about an exit strategy. There is no defined strategy about when you should get up and leave the table. Most rookies will leave when they are barley positive in comparison to the amount of chips in play. They often employ the “quit ahead and chase behind” strategy which means they will quit with little winnings but keep playing when they arelosing a lot. This is exactly the opposite of what you should be doing. When you have a lot of chips in front of you, you have a impressive table image you should use to get even more poker chips. On the other hand when you are losing everybody at the table notices that you are on tilt and takes advantage of you.

Now the next reason applies to both rookies and pros is playing in games against opponents that you know you cannot beat. This will kill your entire bankroll. This leads right into the next mistake which is keep your ego in check. I don’t mean to burst your bubble but the day you realize that you can learn a thing or two is the day you start on the road to becoming a real pro.

Next is simply playing way to many hands. Most rookies will play hands that pros would stay away from because they do not understand the value of starting with premium hands. Some will play a pair like 8-3 and give the reason “I played them because they were suited”.

One of the most important mistakes is playing on tilt. Daniel Negreanu once said “Tilt eats bankrolls for breakfast!” Well not only that but it will gobble up your life savings too if you’re not careful. A player on tilt will often chase miracle hands even when he knows he shouldn’t.

Finally, the number one rookie mistake is simply playing too many hours. I mean come on you would stay at your old nine to five job for 20 hours, so don’t do it at the poker table. Your mind will go into sleep mode and you will convince yourself that you’re playing really well, even though everyone else is laughing at you.

So these are the top ten rookie mistakes made in the game of poker. If you catch yourself making these mistakes, well then it is time to go back to the training before you go to your next game. So have a good time, and don’t play like a rookie poker.

Roulette is one of the most well loved casino games in the world and is played by millions every day and is the subject of millions of dollars in wagers all over the world, but when did it all start and where did it originate from? The following article will look to outline the history and time line of the development of this popular casino game. If you would like to learn how to play roulette effectively then try here online roulette system

The word ‘roulette’ is derived from the words ‘small wheel’ in French so it’s safe to assume that a Frenchman had something to do with the development of the game. Blaise Pascal is credited with the invention of a primitive roulette game in his quest for a perpetual motion machine in the 17th century. However, the roulette wheel itself is believed to be a combination of a number of Old English, French and Italian games that already existed.

The earliest description of the roulette wheel can be found in a French novel ‘La Roulette , Ou Le Jour’ and this is in 1796. However the earliest reference to the game can be found in 1758 in New France (now Quebec) which actually outlaws a gambling game called roulette.

The European form of roulette (1 green 0 rather than the 0 and 00 in the ‘American’ version) has been traced back to the German town of Homburg. It is still credited to two Frenchmen though, Francois and Louis Blanc. The single 0 was introduced to increase the odds in the favour of the gambler and therefore make it a better option than the 00 style of the game. There were even roulette wheels in America that had a 0 and 00 and an American eagle. And when the ball landed in one of these sections the house claimed all bets on the table!

When the Germans (one of the largest empires in Europe at the time) outlawed gambling in the 1860’s gambling and the roulette wheel moved to the south of France and took hold in Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo quickly became a place where the socially wealth and the rich of the time came to bet and is still synonymous with the casino today.

Meanwhile, at this time, roulette was travelling north through the USA beginning in New Orleans. It was here, because of cheating both by gamblers and operators, that roulette became a table top game and it was also here that the roulette wheel as we know it today became standardised.

Roulette can be a tricky game, for some strategies to apply when playing look here Online roulette strategy

Roulette is now played all over the world, from the back street gambling dens to the most glamorous casinos in Las Vegas, by the rich and wealthy to the average Joes looking to get lucky; its appeal is open to all . Its popularity is clear for all to see – maybe this is due to its easy structure, the potential for big wins or even the hypnotic nature of the spinning wheel. One thing is for sure roulette has made a massive impact in the world of gambling and it most certainly here to stay.

This guide is going to focus on some of the more common tells you’ll see in poker. Each chapter will focus on tell in a specific scenario, this chapter on preflop tells. This is chapter 1 of a continuing series. For more visit BlackRose Poker.

1) You’re sitting at a $2/$4 no-limit cash game, which has been surprisingly tight for the most part. The under-the-gun player limps, and as the action goes around the table you notice that the under-the-gun player has been watching the action carefully. When it gets to you there are a total of 4 people in the pot, and you have A-10 on the big blind, not a bad hand, but not strong either. What do you do?

2) You’re at a table that has been playing fairly quickly all night. No one is really playing trash hands, so they’re pretty quick to throw them away. One such player looks at his hole cards and sits up as the action gets to him. His hand reachs for chips before he stops, looks at his hand again, and just calls. What does he have?

3) You’re on the button and you have pocket jacks. It has folded around to you and you’re counting out a raise when the big blind coughs and starts stacking out chips to call, or prehaps raise with when the action gets to him. What do you do?

1) Check and proceed with caution. The under-the-gun player is watching carefully because he is hoping for a raise so he can come back over the top. While you could often get away with a steal in this position this is not the spot for it. Check and if you don’t hit a big flop, don’t get too attached.

2) There are a couple possibilities, it will ultimately depend on the player. The most likely scenario is that he has a marginal hand like A-10 suited, or pocket sevens and was going to raise, but decided to limp in and hope to flop big before getting too much money in the pot. It’s also possible that the player has a monster, so if the player was in early position, you should proceed with caution if you pick up a strong hand yourself and are considering raising preflop. However, if the player is in late position and there are a few limpers already, it is extremely unlikely that someone is going to limp in with a big pocket pair and let everyone see a cheap flop.

3) He’s just trying to intimidate you. He wants to see a cheap flop, likely with a hand like 6-7 or a small pocket pair. Don’t give him a free flop, and don’t give him the pot odds to make the call.

1) You and one other player call a preflop raise from a loose-agressive player in middle position. You are eyeing the raiser as the flop comes and once the dealer flips the flop, you notice the raiser quickly glances at his chips before looking up at you and checking. You look down and see the flop came J-4-4. You called him with AK preflop, what do you do?

2) Your opponent in this hand is someone who has been hyper-agressive most of the night. He’s been making big bets all night and forcing people out of hands slowly building his chips along the way. You’ve been lucky enough to hit a few big hands against him and have built up a decent stack yourself. He raises from early postion and you call with 8♣7♣. One other player calls as well and the flop comes K♦J♣4♣. This time the raiser only bets about a third of the pot. What do you do?

3) There is a small raise from middle postion and a couple limpers to you on the button. You make a loose call with KJ offsuit, and the big blind calls. 5 of you see the flop which comes J♦5♦6♠. The preflop raiser bets about 3/4 of the pot and one person calls. The player to your left quietly counts the pot before calling. What do you do?

————————————–

1) Check and fold when it comes back to you after the turn. The glance at his chips after seeing the flop is a dead giveaway, the preflop raiser hit a big hand and is looking to trap. He’s either got a 4, or pocket jacks, so you’re looking at needing runner-runner to win the pot. Even if an Ace or King comes on the turn, you’re probably still behind. This is an extremely common tell that often gets missed because you are looking at the flop when it comes instead of other players. It gets said a lot, but the flop is going to be there later, don’t miss a chance to pick up an extremely reliable tell because you weren’t looking.

2) Fold and wait for a better spot. You’ve got to ask yourself why would someone who’s been betting big and forcing people out of the pot all night suddenly change and make a small bet. While you’ve got pot odds to call with a flush draw, given the situation it seems likely that he has a hand like A♣K♣ which would have you crushed.

3) Make a decent sized raise. The player counting the pot was determining his pot odds to call, meaning he’s got either a flush draw or a straight draw. If you put the intial raiser on a strong hand, you can fold here, but calling isn’t the right move. You don’t want to give someone pot odds to call with their draws.

1) You’re in a pot with Q♦7♦ against another player who has been doing the betting throughout the hand. The flop was K♦10♣6♦ which missed you, but did give you a flush draw so you decide to come along. The turn was the Q♣, and your opponent bets once again. The river comes the 4♣ and your opponent lets out a sigh before checking to you. What do you do?

2) You decided to call a multi-way pot preflop with 8♥7♥ and the flop is pretty scary. The flop came K♦Q♣J♣ giving you no draws or anything. You decide to take a stab at the pot anyway and chase all but one player out. The turn is a 6♥. Your opponent checks and you decide to check behind. The river is a 5♥ and your opponents shoulders slump just a bit as he checks again. What do you do?

3) You’re in a fairly loose game. You and two others see the flop which comes K♠9♠4♠. Once the flop hits the other two players in the hand both check their hole cards. What does this mean?

1) Check and don’t expect to take the pot. You opponent is weak, but not weak enough that you’re going to chase him off the pot. If he was really weak, he wouldn’t sigh openly like that, so there’s a chance he is trying to induce a bet out of you so he can check-raise. More likely though is that he has a hand like K♣J♣ where he has a decent hand, but was hoping it would get better with a straight or flush, but missed both his draws. A bet out of you here wouldn’t get a fold. This is one of those scenarios where a bluff doesn’t make any sense at all. He isn’t going to fold anything that can beat you, and he isn’t going to call with anything you can beat, so a bluff is a no-reward bet.

2) Take a stab at the pot. Your opponent in this hand obviously missed his draw, probably A♣X♣, or 10♣X♣. A decent bet here is probably going to take this pot down. It would have been more believable if you had bet the turn as well, but with a hand as transparent as his he’s not going to call anyway.

3) This one depends a little bit on the player. If the two players you’re in this hand against are fairly weak, you can bet neither one has a flush already. They would have remembered if they had two spades, so they probably limped with an offsuit hand and were checking to see if they had a spade and how big it was. If one of the two players is a fairly tight player who raised preflop, then there is a chance he has a hand like AK and was checking to see if the ace was a spade. If he checks then you might want to proceed with caution since there is a good chance he has a big spade with a pair already.

The Martingale has been around since the 18th century and was immensely popular at the time in the casinos of France. The Martingale system is a method of betting that can be applied to any event or game that offers even money outcomes. In theory it is the perfect gambling method that will allow you to steadily make a profit and steady, regular increments. However the reality of the Martingale system is that casinos became aware of it a long time ago and put things in place to ensure that you will only ever win in the short term and when you lose you will lose big, due to the exponential level of betting. To be 100% successful in the martingale system you need two things, an endless amount of time and an infinite level of maoney – neither can be had by the regular gambler visiting a casino. For more explanations of systems applied in roulette look here roulette strategy

For this article I will use the example of the game of roulette, with the even money bets being those of betting on red or black.

First you chose your colour (however this really matters little). You then stake the smallest amount you can on that colour, this is usually a chip of 1 unit. If you win then you will be paid out at 2:1 and would have doubled your money – made a profit of 1 unit. If you lose then you take 2 units and place them on your chosen colour. If you win then, by doubling your original stake, you would have recovered what you have lost AND made a profit of 1 unit. If you lose then you double your stake again, this time to four units, and again bet on your chosen colour. The system, as you can see is very easy – If you lose double your bet and bet again, if you win and you make a profit of one unit then return to betting the smallest amount that you can again. Each time you run through this process you will make a profit of one unit. This doesn’t sound like much but you can carry out this system many times in a short space of time and turn a good profit in less than 30 minutes.

So why doesn’t it work? There is one main reason why this system is not advisable and can mean big loses and that is ‘table limits’. When playing roulette at any casino there will be a table minimum bet and a table maximum bet. With the exponential nature of this system you will reach the maximum table limits in a reasonably short space of time and thus will be prevented from continuing to double your bet. For example if the table minimum is $1 and the table maximum is $200 then you betting might look like this

$1 lose
$2 lose
$4 lose
$8 lose
$16 lose
$32 lose
$64 lose
$128 lose

You only need to lose 7 times in a row (something that can and does happen) and you will be making your final bet of $124 for a measly profit of $1! If this comes out at a loss then you are prevented, by the maximum table limit from doubling your bet and recouping what you have lost.

In short the Martingale system does not work. You might well be able to turn a small profit in the short term but in the long term the casino will always come out on top and will always take your money. For alternatives to the Martingale system look here online roulette strategy

Check out realistic knowledge in the sphere of trading forex – study the web site. The times have come when concise information is really only one click of your mouse, use this possibility.

Five Card Stud

Five Card Stud is similar to Five Card Draw, the difference being that you do not ever get a chance to replace cards in your hand and therefore do not get a chance to improve that hand. As in Seven Card Stud you get a hole card and 4 open cards for all to see. Most versions play the final card as a community card. Since there is no chance to improve your hand, the winning hands tend to be either pairs or high cards and it is hard to string people along to the final street. Some variations on Five Card Stud alleviate this by making the last card a pocket card allowing for some raises.

The Open

The hand starts with the dealer handing each player 2 cards. First cards dealt are a hole card and then the dealer follows up with an open card for each player. Wagering then begins, usually with the high open card going first and then following clockwise. This continues until betting is over. These are the first two “Streets”.

Third Street

The dealer then hands out a third card, which is another open card. This is followed by another round of betting. Betting begins again with the highest open card opening and continues until there are no more bets made. Then it is time for the Fourth Street.

Fourth Street

Again the dealer hands out an open card, which is then followed by another round of betting. Betting again continues until all call and then it is on to the Fifth Street.

Fifth Street

The Fifth Street is the final card. Usually this is an open card but some variations play this as a hole or pocket card to make the game more interesting. This variation creates more uncertainty about which cards your opponent’s hole cards could be and allows for more interesting betting opportunities. Bluffs and more creative betting make this variation more interesting than four straight open cards.

Another variation is to have both the first and second cards remain hole cards, for much the same reasons as making the fifth card a hole card. The problem with having only the first card as a hole card is that even beginning players get a feel for the odds of any particular player having a better hand than theirs, based on their open cards. Therefore it is difficult to have an interesting hand of cards as betting tends to be rather a bit more conservative as a result.

Seven Card Stud

One of the most popular variations of Poker, the 7 Card Stud Poker game is played at every Vegas casino and in all internet casinos. The popularity of 7 Card Stud Poker is eclipsed only by a variant of the game called Texas Hold ‘Em, which is the main format of the World Series of Poker, the largest professional tournament in the world. Once you know how to play 7 Card Stud Poker, it is an easy step to learn Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha, or other popular variants.

The hand ranking order is the same for 7 Card Stud as it is for just about every one of the hundreds of Poker variations played around the world. The highest possible hand is a Royal Flush, and after that in descending order are the Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, and Straight, Three of a Kind, Two Pair, One Pair, and High Card. The odds of being dealt a high hand in 7 Card Stud are lower than those in Texas Hold ‘Em because you must construct the hand using only the cards you receive. There are no community cards in traditional 7 Card Stud.

As with every Poker game, play in 7 Card Stud begins with the ante: each player pays a small amount to the pot in order to participate in the game. There are six stages in 7 Card Stud Poker; known as third street, fourth street, fifth street, sixth street, the river, and the showdown. After the ante, each player is dealt two face-down cards (called hole cards) and one face-up card. This initial deal is third street. The player with the highest card showing initiates the betting, and will either check (not raise the pot), or bet. Then, each subsequent player can either call (match the first player’s bet), raise (increase the bet amount), or fold (withdraw from the hand). Three more face-up cards are dealt to each player, one at a time, with a round of betting after each deal pass–these stages are fourth, fifth and sixth street.

The seventh card is known as “the river,” and is dealt face-down. One final round of betting ensues, after which those players who have not folded enter the last stage, called “the showdown.” At this point, beginning with the last player to call the bet, each player shows their respective cards and names the best five-card hand they can make with their cards (full house, two pair, etc.). The pot is given to the player with the highest ranking hand, and then the next hand begins. Now you know how to play 7 Card Stud Poker!
