Free Games. Are They Worth Looking At?

There appear to be many free online games on the Internet these days so a while back I thought I should check some out. After all why bother playing online games when there seem to be so many magazines with free games given away on CD.

The beauty of online games I soon found out is that you don’t need to install any software before you try the game out and discover its useless or you just don’t like it. Just click on a game with a title that gets your attention and within seconds you are playing it. Don’t like it, then close and click on another. Its really as simple as that No files to delete, no folders to try and find so you can delete them- folders that you can’t remember the name of, nothing screwy happening to your system files that you don’t know about when you run the installer either… There is no installer.

If you can’t decide from the thousands of titles out there, then most sites seem to have a ‘most played, ‘favourites’ or a ranking system of some kind whereby others have already rated the games. A great place to start… Why reinvent the wheel when others have already done it for you. Of course you may be different than the majority, or the game may be so new that it hasn’t been ranked highly yet, or even ranked at all so it’s worth trying a few that standout to you. The site will probably remember your recently played games so you can go back to it again and again and not have to remember the name.

I am not a big games player, but love to play sometimes just to blob out. It’s relaxing… Well it can be. Some games certainly get you wound up, or you find that you just have to beat your last high score, your kid’s high score, or your partner’s high score before you can retire for the night.

But which free web games site do I start with? One site I have found rewards you for just playing with a chance to win something. You don’t have to spend 16 hours a day to be in with a chance… sure that helps, but they have random chances too for the rest of us who have a job and family as well. This site is cyberarena.co.nz.

If you prefer to use a Mac, like myself, then you will find some of the games don’t work. You can see this right away and just move onto another as soon as you click on it. If you really want to play that one you can let your browser search for the required plug-in, but in my experience it probably won’t find one and you are wasting your time. Just move on to another. Any of them work running under Windows emulation using Parallels, Soft PC, Boot Camp or whatever or use a Windows machine for these few. Hey us Mac users are used to not everything running on our Mac, but there is plenty that do and almost always a better equivalent somewhere.

So, why not give an online games site a go. Costs you nothing. Just Google ‘free online games’ or similar to be presented with hundreds of choices.
